Output Issues in FL Studio

Check ASIO or DirectSound driver

If you don't receive any output, make sure you've selected an ASIO or DirectSound driver (see Audio Settings). Make sure the audio driver has been initialized and is working.

If you are using ASIO4ALL then there is a special section in the manual on ASIO4ALL troubleshooting.

Check VST plugin classification

If your VST plugins aren't producing any output because they're opening in the Mixer as an effect plugin refer to the solution provided in the following Knowledge Base article, Plugins are opening as a Sampler Channel.

Check MIDI sound

If you don't get any MIDI sound from the playing loop you probably forgot to enable the 'Enable MIDI output' menu option (see Options menu).
Also, refer to and check that your MIDI Settings are set properly.

Also note that MIDI is not audio, you need to send MIDI notes to an internal or external instrument that turns MIDI notes into sound, if you're using the MIDI Out or Dashboard plugins (refer to the manual for more information on those plugins).

Miscellaneous

Auto Close - If FL Studio loses sound or no longer outputs audio when not in focus (minimizing FL Studio or selecting another application), this is likely being caused by the 'Auto Close' option located in Audio Settings. Make sure this option is disabled as this allows other applications to share your audio device.
